Most of your links are affiliate, I’m not sure if you are aware. I do know that some templates (like WordPress) convert links to affiliates without bloggers knowing, but we’ve found a way to fix it!The link you’re looking for should look like this:
nail
polishFind that link and replace it with the link below:
<a href=”http://www.julep.com/shop/nail-polish.html”
rel=”noskim”>nail polish
–Unquote–Could you please help me what is an affiliate link? and are there any other types of links that I could use in my post?
What does it mean when the LINK was converted into an AFFILIATE?
Appreciate your assistance.

It means whoever wrote that was completely bullshitting you. There was a Skimlinks program several years ago but WordPress ditched it.
-
Sounds like a scammer trying to get you to put their affiliate links on your site or just send traffic to their site
-
…but we’ve found a way to fix it!
When you see unsolicited “help” offered like that, run.
-
Thanks for your comments. Appreciate it.
But I am trying to write something for their site please see below link on my post (I am not sure if I should be including my link but for better understanding will do):
https://charmchin.wordpress.com/2014/11/24/how-to-winterize-your-nails/And they said that the links I used on this post were converted to affiliates. so they suggested the above.
What is a link that was converted into an affiliate? What is the difference?
-
That’s not an affiliate link. There is only one link in that post that I can see.
An affiliate link is one that includes tracking code like “id=1234567” and whoever owns that identity gets a percentage of the money made when people click through that link to buy stuff.
-
Find that link and replace it with the link below:
nail polishIf you create a link to that nail polish page at julep.com using the WordPress.com post editor “Insert/edit link” tab, you will obtain the following:
Whereas, you’ve been told to create instead the link
The difference is a rel tag with the value=noskim. I don’t know why the second case would be considered non-affiliate, and the first affiliate.
-
Sorry. I forgot that the HTML codes wouldn’t display. Let’s try that again, unclosed .
Suggested to you:
rel=”noskim”>nail polish</aWordPress.com created link:
nail polish</a -
a href=”http://www.julep.com/shop/nail-polish.html” rel=”noskim”>nail polish
vs.
a href=”http://www.julep.com/shop/nail-polish.html”>nail polish -
Yes that was her point. the first case was an affiliate and the second case with a rel=”noskim”>nail polish html codes was said a non affiliate.
That confuses me really. :( -
Neither was ever an affiliate link. The change she suggested was not necessary. If it appears to be a skimlink, then it’s actually likely that her browser is infected with malware. That’s a big problem, but it is not your problem.
-
Technically, I have two links on my post. 1. on the “Julep” word and 2. on the “nail polish” words.
I was told that most of my links were converted by wordpress to affiliate links (maybe she was referring also with my other posts. But, I won’t concentrate on the others. I would like to deal with these first.)
So, I did what was suggested to replace the “nail polish” link with a (rel=”noskim”>nail polish…..) html codes as said this is a non affiliate link. But the original link I did was this only “http://www.julep.com/shop/nail-polish.html” and said this was an affiliate one.
Can you please help me understand what is the difference on the two?
Why said it was an affiliate?

http://www.julep.com/shop/nail-polish.html is not an affiliate link.
This is an affiliate link:
