What does moving my domain here do for me?

I moved my blog to a 3rd party host, but have no support for my WP issues, and I have had a few. If I pay WP for the Domain and mapping, is that much the same? If so, can I monetize the blog. What about just ads for my own books on Amazon and Cafe Press? Just looking for a clear cut, “This is what that is”, as I am new to blogging and am not happy with my current set up. The blog is at http://www.bittermac.com, just in case you need to look at it.

What is advertised ie. a domain name and domain mapping is what you get and nothing more so please be sure to read this full entry > domain mapping upgrade The same rules apply to both those blogging on domains and those blogging on sub-domains.
If so, can I monetize the blog.
Let’s start here. WordPress.com has been displaying advertising on our blogs since 2006. As they do not display to us when we are signed in you may not have noticed them previously. The ToS section 9 that we agree to in order to get a blog states this, the features page states this, and so does the advertising entry in the support documentation but many bloggers do not read these. The bottom line is that if you do not wish to have advertising displaying on your blog you will have to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.
No blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted WordPress.COM blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by WordPress.COM
The advertising exceptions noted in support documentation are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.
