What does "Singular" do in the Twenty Eleven theme?

I’m reading the CSS and can’t quite see what the role of “Singular” is?

The “singular” class in Twenty Eleven is used for single posts.
Here is an example of a single post from your website:

Thanks for this. Not to be too dense, but isn’t every post “singular?” Can you show me a post that isn’t singular?

Sure. In WordPress terms, this is a page and not a single post:
http://duncan4nh.com/bills-background/
If you compare the classes on the body tag for that link to the ones from the other link, you’ll see that one has “singular” in the list and the other doesn’t. The “singular” class (or “single” in some themes) is just the way most WordPress themes distinguish single posts.

Ahh…huge help. I do know the difference between a page and a post…just never connected “single” as a synonym.
