What does this comment mean? 'Your comment is awaiting moderation'

    Hello.
    I am a newbie to WP and participate as a college student.
    I commented on a fellow-students’ post last nite and just under the date/time stamp there is the statement: ‘Your comment is awaiting moderation’. Who, in this instance, is the Moderator? The post does contain ‘F-Bomb’ and I rated the site ‘G’.
    I would happily edit the post but only the site admin can do that, right?
    Suggestions?
