What does this error mean?

I cancelled my domain registration yesterday: thisisjaunt.com and just wanted to register with someone else. I got the email that says it has been canceled, but it keeps saying on other registration sites that that address is still taken! Then, when I went to download wordpress.org today to hostgator, it keeps giving me this message:
Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.
What do I need to do next?

Hi there – When you cancel a domain, it is not always released right away. It typically takes about five days, but it’s at the discretion of the registrar. If you like, I can try to get it back for you, and then you can point it to Host Gator from here. Let me know if you’d like to do that, or wait for it to be released.
