What e-Commerce or Shopping Cart add-ons are available for our website?

    Theme – Hemingway rewritten
    website – slaterunsportsmen.com

We are looking to add either a shopping cart type experience to allow our members to renew their memberships or allow new members to join our club – OR – at the very least – set up a PayPal ability to do the same tasks just stated.

    1. I know we will have to attain a PayPal account for the club – 2. I know that we will need to create the PayPal ‘button’ on the site page where we want this to take place – they seem like the easy things to do. But, is there an ‘addon’ that might do either of these things we are seeking for the website?

We do have other items that we could sell and so if the addon had the ability to be more of a shopping cart experience – great. But we want to be able to use PayPal as a method for membership and renewal memberships to take place at teh very least.

We will need to know WHO is renewing their membership or whoever is purchasing an item from the club. So this addon will need to have the ability to tie the transaction to a persons information – possibly what they have to enter when they renew or make a purchase.

Are there addons that also incorporate the allowed use of credit cards?

Can anyone suggest either specific addons or what I should ‘google’ to search for them, I could do the rest.

    Thanks,

    SRS

I would like to add a question which is – can we create a membership site page that would accept PayPal for the membership renewals or new memberships WITHOUT changing our web host?

We are on the WP Premium plan currently.

    Thanks – SRS

  • Hi there,

Since you’re on the Premium plan you can use the Simple Payments feature to accept payment on your PayPal account. Here’s how to set it up:

If you want a more complete e-commerce solution and membership management I recommend upgrading to the Business plan which allows the installation of plugins like WooCommerece.

If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

    Thanks for responding.

I’ve been seeing where I could add a payment button – I now see, thanks to you, how to do that on a site page or blog post (page). Thanks!

I see where in the process of adding the payment button that it asks for an email of where the payment will be sent to. Here is where I have a few questions.

Our club has a bank account and it will be opening a PayPal account soon (before we offer members the option to renew visa PP).

Q1 – How does an email address direct the money paid through the payment button – to our bank account? In the ‘adding a payment button’ – it does NOT ask for information regarding our club’s checking account’s routing number or such. So I thought a lot more information would be needed to get this set up for this to happen.

Q2. How would we set this up so that we know WHO is either joining or renewing their membership. This would also go for if we sold anything from the site and our club – how do we set it up so that we get the necessary information to know who has paid for what items and where to ship/send their stuff too??

Is this really all one needs to set up and accept payments on the website?

We want this initial set-up to allow people to join or those who already belong – to renew their membership. We only have a few items(hat, pin, sticker, etc…) that we would like to offer for sale – but

would add these after we have established the membership joining/renewal process

    .

    thanks

  • how to do that on a site page or blog post (page). Thanks!

There are step-by-step instructions on how to add the button to any post or page on your site:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/simple-payments/#create-your-first-button

Q1 – How does an email address direct the money paid through the payment button – to our bank account?

That email address must be linked to a PayPal account. Therefore you need to create a PayPal account and add your bank account details there. Here are the instructions for that:

    https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/article/how-do-i-link-a-bank-account-to-my-paypal-account-faq686

How would we set this up so that we know WHO is either joining or renewing their membership. When someone pays with through the Simple Payments button they need to fill in some information such as email, name, and address. This information is always sent to you along with a confirmation of the payment. If some information is missing you can always reach out to them via their email address and ask them for it.

Is this really all one needs to set up and accept payments on the website?

Yes! That’s why it’s called Simple Payments ;)

Now, if you want to keep a database of your members and allow them to renew their subscription you’ll probably need a full-fledged e-commerce solution as I suggested on my earlier post. The Simple Payments method only allows you to collect payment and does not keep a record of when someone paid and when they need to pay again.

Thank you so much for addressing each portion of my questions.

I’m sure I’ll have more but this gives me a start…. thank you again for the information!

    One more quick one….

Can I put MORE THAN ONE….. payment button (for a different item we want to offer for sale – in THIS case… we have 4 actual membership possibilities… Individual and Family… of ran existing member or a new member .. thus 4 membership possibilities)…..

….can we have more than one payment button ON THE SAME SAite Page … or Blog Post (page)?????

I was trying to put a second one on a draft Site Page and having a little difficulty. Possibly I was not following through as far as I needed to … to create it.

    Thanks

Think I’ve already answered this part – I’ve been playing around with a draft site page and added 4 payment ‘buttons’ on it I think.

I’m going to mark this resolved and if there are issues in the future, I’ll just create a new thread if that’s ok.

    Thanks for the directives.
