what flexibility does buying a plan add to theme?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am currently using the theme Dara and am wondering if buying a plan (the least expensive for now) adds to the flexibility of the theme. For instance, the turquoise line where my main menu sits, will I be able to change that? And the color of menu titles, i.e. home, contact etc. Or is that CSS?
And is there a way to know before I buy $60.00 plan what value it adds above free one? Besides what is listed on plan page?
Please advise the best way for me to go about picking a new theme before I purchase. Dara is great but clashing horribly with my logo.

    Many thanks

    Jen

    Hi Jen,

am wondering if buying a plan (the least expensive for now) adds to the flexibility of the theme.

Upgrading to a paid plan doesn’t add any new theme features or functionality but the Premium and Business plans provide the option to use custom CSS for making style changes.

For instance, the turquoise line where my main menu sits, will I be able to change that? And the color of menu titles, i.e. home, contact etc. Or is that CSS?

It’s possible to change the overall theme colour from My Sites > Customise > Colours and Backgrounds — any changes outside of that would require custom CSS though.

And is there a way to know before I buy $60.00 plan what value it adds above free one? Besides what is listed on plan page?

The feature list on the Plans page breaks down all the differences between each one. Live Chat and email support, a custom domain and additional storage space are benefits of upgrading from free to Personal.

Based on the customisations you mentioned above, custom CSS would be the main reason to choose the Premium plan over Personal.

Please advise the best way for me to go about picking a new theme before I purchase. Dara is great but clashing horribly with my logo.

Our theme showcase is a great place to start:

    https://wordpress.com/themes

If you know what sort of features you are looking for (post slider etc), the “Feature” link will help you find suitable themes.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
