What happened to all the incoming links?

  Just curious, but what happened to the long list of incoming links that my sites used to have. There is still a title “Incoming Links” on the stats page, but it shows no links for either blogs — and I know there are loads, especially for Waltzing Australia.

  This doesn’t inhibit my ability to use the site, but it is a bit disconcerting to just see the information vanish. Is this a temporary glitch, due to all the upgrading? Or has all the information on incoming links simply been lost?

  Incoming links are updated daily to show all sites around the web linking to your blog on a given day. We pull that information from Google Blog Search.

  If there are no incoming links listed in your stats, then that indicates that no sites that have linked to your blog recently.

  Okay — that’s a change from the past, then. With a blog that stretches back four years, I’d accumulated a large number of incoming links — but now you say it’s just recent links — is that right? I must have missed that change.

  And how recently? Because I’ve seen some of the links appear in the “Referrers” list within the last week. So is it only links that have been added in the last day or two, vs. links that are longstanding, even if they’re clicked regularly?

  I’ll check out the “more information” — but it does seem odd that suddenly, instead of dozens of links on one blog and a handful on the other, I now show no incoming links for either blog.

  I am sorry for the previous confusion We are aware that the Incoming links module does not work as expected on some blogs, and our developers are working on it to find a solution.

  As soon as this is fixed, you will see your links appearing again.

  Thanks so much.

  And I probably wouldn’t even have noticed if everything on WordPress didn’t work so well all the time. You guys rock.
