what happened to Independent Publisher ONE?

Alas! Independent Publisher has been retired. I miss it, it was the only one I used.
Is there a way to put the site title to the left, like in was in the original, instead of the center?
It was so much better. Really, infinitely better. I’m slightly petty about this. Was the theme not good enough? It functioned. It wasn’t worse, only different. Woe is WordPress without it. Tch.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

You may use a free retired theme, such as Independent Publisher, on a site that was created before the theme was retired. I was given the following information by a WordPress.com staff member:

Free themes – you can activate any retired free theme on a site created before the theme was retired, via WP Admin, regardless of whether a given site ever had that theme active. Retired free themes are not accessible at wordpress.com/themes, because we don’t want to encourage anyone to activate a retired theme.

    That would require CSS Customization.

Was the theme not good enough? It functioned. It wasn’t worse, only different.

The reasons for the retirement of a theme may be various. When a new version of the theme is created and added to the Themes Showcase, that typically would indicate that the author(s) have made modifications that are considered improvements on the previous design. Of course, everyone will not be in agreement on that opinion.

If you’d like to speak to a WordPress.com staff member about possible reasons for the retirement of Independent Publisher, you may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention.
