What happened to my post that disappeared while I was writing it??
-
I was in the middle of composing a post. I added a link, and when the dialog box for that closed, instead of returning to my post I was on a blank Add Post page. The post I had been writing (for about 45 minutes, so it should have autosaved) is not anywhere in my Posts folder. There is no Trash folder under Posts, which I think means I have nothing in the Trash.
Is there any way to retrieve this post, or do I have to start over? What happened–did I do something wrong? As far as I’m aware, I was doing everything as I normally would.

Hi Becca – It’s hard to say what happened. It’s not anywhere in your drafts?
https://earthlingshandbook.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=postCheck through them all, in case somehow the post date got edited or something. I’ve seen that happen before, where the new post was further down in the list.
Otherwise, I’m afraid it’s probably gone. :( Where do you compose your posts – from the post editor on the WordPress.com homepage, or from your blog’s Dashboard?

No, it is not in the Drafts under any date.
I compose from the Dashboard.
It did seem to me that some things in the Web Interface were not working properly (for example, I could not get to comments from the little orange icon, but only from the Dashboard menu) so maybe I should have taken the hint that it was not a good time to write. I will start over!

Hi Becca – It sounds like you had a connection interruption. I’m really sorry that happened! :( Next time, click the ‘save draft’ button once you’ve gotten some content in there, just in case.
