What happened to my stats??
-
Hi…I published a new post yesterday evening, got nine likes and two new followers, but only one view showing in my stats for yesterday and none for today! What happened?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I think I have read somewhere that if people click on like through reader without actually clicking on your blog that it doesn’t show on stats. No doubt someone will correct me if I misread elsewhere.

Well, it looks like this morning’s stats are now showing (7), but is there any way to get last night’s back? Thank you.

Ok, I wasn’t aware of the reader thing. Sounds like that should count in your stats too. Thank you for helping me so promptly!

I’ll let someone else come back. I may be wrong. But if you didn’t understand what I wrote, there are no stats to get back. If people clicked on ‘like’ within reader, rather than your blog, then, as I remember that is not counted as a visit to your blog.
I have no idea if how you have your timeclock set affects that either. Anyways, clever people will answer soon.

I have the same question, but I’m not sure I understand roughseas’ answer. If I’ve posted in “Nature” for example, and someone sees the blog there and clicks on it – that isn’t counted as a hit? Don’t think I ever noticed this problem with my first blog, but with my second one it is definitely strange to have people liking and becoming followers, but still have 0 hits. Not the end of the world, I guess…

WordPress.com stats are page view stats. Unless the person actually clicks into your post there is no stat created. There are several different ways that readers can start following your blog.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/following/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/followers/A follower can click the “like” button when viewing your posts in the Readomatic reader on the home page of WordPress.com without visiting your blog or the Topic surfer. An email subscriber can click the “like” button in the email they receive of your new posts without visiting your blog. I choose to set my RSS Feed to summary on this page > Settings > Reading and that compels my readers to click in and read the whole post on my blogs.
