What happened to the CSS customization editor?
-
I haven’t used it in a few weeks, and now that I wanted to try out something new, I find it has been moved to the left side of the page, and is much smaller.
Plus I had to search around to find a way to save my new CSS code, whereas before it was obvious (how to do so).
It’s becoming increasingly difficult to understand the design rationale behind this new UI rollout at WP.
It is as if WP is deliberately setting out to have as bad an interface as possible, at all possible levels, with many convoluted ways now necessary to achieve what was once was possible via a simple and intuitive interface.
It’s baffling, quite honestly.

For those that may happen onto this thread, the Customizer has changed and is now on the left of the Appearance > Customize page, like it is on self-hosted WordPress installations. The lighter look-and-feel is also in also inline with the general interface changes in the WordPress.com interface.
Another reason that we have changed the customizer to what is in the WordPress core is so that WordPress does not have to maintain two Customizers (one for core and one for WordPress.com). This will allow us to focus more on additional features and improvements.
The Customizer will continue to have adjustments and changes as we go forward and our goal is to make it as intuitive and easy to use as we possible can.
We always welcome user comments and we do take all comments and suggestions seriously.
