What happened to the free photos?

I routinely checked – and used – the photos that used to be available while writing a new article. On my website, it appeared under the Tags area. I only used photos that I was legally able to use, and I found the inventory quite helpful in sprucing up an article. Why are they no longer available? Will that option come back? Additionally, suggested Tags, which automatically showed up while writing my article, no longer exist.

We have removed our integration with Zemanta (the tool that provided those images) from WordPress.com. We’re working on improving our editor to incorporate some functionality previously provided by Zemanta. Some features, like related posts, are already there. We encourage you to use our Related Posts feature on WordPress.com, and for images, check out our list of websites that provide free images, videos, books, and other content for your blogs.
