what happened to the side bar in my theme?
-
side bar disappeared from the theme and now only latest posts can be accessed. it happens in any navigator i have tried with: safari, firefox and chrome.
would you please help me fix it?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
It’s a common problem http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2012/05/19/sidebar-at-the-bottom-and-related-issues/
-
thanks! but i cannot fix it :(
i proceeded as option A says and no changes. i did it with every post, even the ones that do not appear in the last page but that i posted this morning.
the thing is that every post i can access shows the side bar. it is the first page shown that does not shot it and therefore no other pages can be accessed.i too proceeded as option B says. no changes.
i have tried to find out what’s wrong in the other ways too. no changes.
:(
how can i fix this?? -
Wait a minute. Are you sure you’re using a theme that displays the sidebar on the main page?
-
yes, i am! this morning it was shown and after posting ten new posts, it wasn’t. so i did something wrong but i do not know what. if you could help me i would be thanked.
-
in any event, even if there wasn’t any side bar it should be a way to read older posts and there isn’t.

The main posts page doesn’t display widgets in The Columnist.
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/the-columnist/Widget Areas
Four widget areas are provided enabling you to add your own custom content directly below the content area in single posts and pages. Widgets will not appear in any template where multiple posts are displayed. -
P.S. If you are referring to widget display on single posts and pages note also that widgets now have “visibility” settings so we can select which pages they display on. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility
-
hmmm… strange. maybe because I added a custom CSS to display it? because when I customize the theme it appears and it looks fine, with all the posts (50) and the sidebar.
-
i do not have any problems with single posts. they all show the bar.
i have done something that causes that only the last 8 posts can be seen. no way to access the rest of the blog. that’s the prob.
thanks! -
You’re using The Columnist. This theme doesn’t even have a widget sidebar: it supports footer widgets only, and it displays them only on single posts and static pages.

ok. thanks for that information. and sorry for the mess. i am just a ‘normal’ user of wordpress. no idea of specific terms or HTML language.
when i talk about sidebar i mean the scroll tool. is that the right word for it? (maybe my english is not very good). -

I see. This happened because your latest posts have practically no text, so the total height is too short. If you wish to keep things this way (no text other than the copyright notice), go to Settings > Reading, set the number of posts to any multiple of 4, uncheck the option “Scroll Infinitely”, scroll down and click Save Changes. This will produce an “Older Posts” tab at the bottom.
