What happened to the WordPress as referrer?

    Everyone experienced a spike in traffic in late October from the change in stats counter — counting in the total stats the hits from wordpress as referrer (previously and now shown only in the stats for specific posts, but not the blog total).

    This generate a flood of complaints, I think because of the way it was implemented. But including referrer traffic — from wordpress and other services — is IMO a great idea. Are additional changes under consideration?
