What happens if I get my own domain name but later discontinue annual payments?

  I would like to change to my own .com domain name, but I am wondering what would happen if I choose to discontinue the annual payment in the future. Will my blog posts go back to their .wordpress.com URLs? And will the links on other sites pointing to my blog all be broken?

  Your blog will continue to function at its .wordpress.com URL, but any links pointing to your domain will fail, as your domain would have expired.
