What happens if I want to switch to the free blog option?

For the last 1.5 years, I have paid for my blog so that I avoided ads and had a “.blog” address. I have not been blogging much at all for over half a year, and I’m thinking that a free blog would be best. If I were to “downgrade”, what would happen to all of my content (posts) and settings in my current fee-based blog? Would I still retain all the follows if it were downgraded? And would I still retain the list of blogs I follow?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • All of your content would remain the same. If you’re using Premium settings (custom colors, CSS, premium themes, etc.) those will be lost.

And, if you’d used more space than the free plan allows, you wouldn’t be able to add more images. But you’re okay there.

Even though your .blog domain won’t expire for some time, I’d recommend switching to the free address now so that folks linking to the .blog domain will have time to update their links. Same with search engines … when you switch to the new address, we signal that you’ve updated the address so their links can get updated too. That way by the time the .blog domain stops working, hopefully outside sites will have their links transitioned.
