What happens to all pins with old webiste browser

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hey there,

I’m about to pay for wordpress premium, yet I’ve created over 2,000 images for my now X.wordpress.com website. Is there an easier way to change all the pins ever created to the new domain name I’ll be creating now? What happens to all the images with my old domain name?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi @blkcouturehealthwellness,

    thank you for the question!

Upgrading a plan does not affect all the media and pages/posts- they are left untouched and available for further updates.
After you purchase a paid plan, you can create a custom domain. It will be set as primary automatically. So the old one will be left as secondary, it will not disappear. Official notice says

All other domains will redirect to the primary domain

. It works in reality: all the old links to the website are redirected via primary domain to same website pages, therefore I believe links to images will be redirected same way.
If it does not work for some reasons, you can cancel a new domain and get a refund within 96 hours after registration. More about domains here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#domain-name-refunds.
Refund for a paid plan can be asked 7 days for subscriptions with monthly billing, so you can test how it works:)

If You have more questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

  • Hi @blkcouturehealthwellness – Are you still needing help with this? If so, could you share with us a single example of what you are describing so we can understand what your concerns are? For example:

Is there an easier way to change all the pins ever created to the new domain name I’ll be creating now?

Could you give us an example of the “pins” you are referring to here?

Thanks and we look forward to helping!

Yes I am needing help with this. For instance 20 of my pins direct my audience to my blkcoutureblog.wordpress.com but now I’m about to purchase the premium wordpress services, so my website will become blkcouture.com

What can I do to make sure all those 20 pins with blkcoutureblog.wordpress.com become blkcouture.com ? I don’t want to lose my audience of people who’ve also pinned. Can wordpress help here?

    Hi @blkcouturehealthwellness,

when you purchase a new domain blkcouture.com it will become “primary”, while blkcoutureblog.wordpress.com becomes “secondary”. That means that all visitors trying to reach via secondary domain will be redirected automatically to a new primary domain. F.e. if visitors trying to reach https://blkcoutureblog.wordpress.com/wellnessnbeauty/ will automatically be redirected to blkcouture.com/wellnessnbeauty/. Same works with all your posts and pages.
