What happens to domain after year 1?
-
Hello, if I sign up for WordPress Pro, it says that the domain is only good for one year. What if I want to keep it beyond that? I assume no one can take it as long as I have a subscrption with WordProcess? Can someone please clarify this for me before I sign up? I get it comes free with the first year, I’m more curious on starting year 2 + 1 day. Thank you.

I did not do a good enough job searching for an answer first (or apparently proofreading my question for spelling errors… ugh). Here is the answer in case anyone had a similar experience and lacks basic Google searching capabilities: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-expiration/

Hi there,
It sounds like you found the answer, but just to make sure:

Domains are registered for a year at a time, but as long as you continue renewing the domain every year, you remain the owner, and no one else can use it. Pro includes your domain’s registration cost for the first year, and from the second year that will be an extra cost in addition to the plan. I see you’ve registered a .com, so that renewal cost (at our current pricing) will be $18 a year, added onto the $180 for the Pro plan.
Your plan and domain currently have autorenew switched on, so as long as you keep your payment information on file with us current, we’ll take care of the renewal for you. Auto-renewal usually happens around 30 days before the domain is due to expire.
