I will like to upgrade to a business plan from my personal site.
Just wondering what will happen to my current blog posts and content?

if i am upgrading to a business plan that will have a woocommerce plugin, will i be able to still have the old content on the new business site.

if yes, how do i do it? is there some help online i can refer to?

    thanks

  • Hi there!

Upgrading your site will have no effect on your existing content, it just gives you more features. You’ll be working on your site just as before but you’ll have more options, like adding plugins or products (if you decide to use WooCommerce).

You can reach our support directly via https://wordpress.com/help/contact to get more help – once you’ve upgraded to Business, this link will lead to you live chat :)

    Hi,
thanks for the reply! so you mean i will be able to rearrange the current content in my blog into the new design or storefront that i choose with woocommerce plugin?

Happy with the live chat, but is there any help articles i can read to prepare for this upgrade or transfer of content.

    thanks

  • If you add a different theme, like Storefront, anything already on your site will immediately display as determined by that theme. There’s nothing you will need to transfer or rearrange.

If you’re going to use WooCommerce, you’ll be creating new sections, like a Store and Checkout page, but your existing blog posts will continue to exist just as they are at the moment.

And once you install and activate WooCommerce, it will take you through a installation wizard that will help you set up the extra pages needed for your online store. You can see the guide for getting started with WooCommerce here:

Thanks for help! just wondering if these blogs post of mine will go straight into the

      blog section

of the a storefront theme. Like you said, I will not need to manually transfer them to that blog section. Could you confirm on that?
    thanks! : )

  • Activating the theme just enables the design. It shouldn’t automatically make any changes to the layout/setup.

You currently have your site set up so blog posts display on the home page. The only thing that will change that is if you went into the Customizer and explicitly set a static page as your site’s front page:

    Set the Homepage

Simply activating the Storefront theme on your site should not change how your front page is configured.

ok, think i get it. so activating a theme doesn’t mean i need to have the storefront as the home page, I can set up a static front page to sit on top of it and have entry points from them to the blog and the store.
    right?

    thanks!

  • Right. That’s an option with any theme. You can set your store up on any page of the site, doesn’t need to be the front page. Hope that helps.
