what happens to my existing website if i buy my own domain?
-
I have just launched my own website under wordpress.com but now i want to register it to a domain, what will happen to the existing one, and all the blogs that i already have in the site?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
There are two ways to add a domain to your WordPress.com blog:
1) Purchase the domain from WordPress.
2) Map a domain you already own to your WordPress.com blog.
Once you have successfully added the domain to your blog, the new URL to your blog will be the custom domain.
So, to directly answer your question, if one tries to access your blog using the old WordPress.com URL, (s)he will be directed to your new domain, and the content of the blog (including all the blog posts you’ve written), remain unchanged.
The only change will be in your URL.
I hope I have answered your question.

Hi Support,
I have a similar question about Business accounts.
I have “had” to move my website to Bluehost, due to plug-ins and code modifications that was needed.
Is there any benefit, or is it even possible to buy / use a Business plan if my site is NOT hosted by WordPress?? -
@djtravelengineerk: I’m afraid, the live chat support is for customers using the business plan. More on that here. However, Happiness Engineers are always here to help you out with any pressing issues. You may also directly contact support, here.

@psg69: To directly answer your question, the business plan is for WordPress.com customers, per se. Since, you are using the self-hosted version of WordPress, purchasing the premium plan from WordPress.com will not be of much relevance to you.
However, Automattic (the company that runs WordPress.com), offers several services for self-hosted WordPress users like you, including WordPress for VIP as well as VaultPress. These may be on a slight slightly expensive side, but if you are running enterprise services using WordPress, they may be useful for you.
