What happens to the original domain, when you register for a new one?

  I am looking into purchasing a domain for my blog (something like http://www.arsc1810.com). However, I was wondering what happens to the wordpress default domain (arsc1810.wordpress.com). If users have the original default wordpress domain (arsc1810.wordpress.com), will it send the user to my website (www.arsc1810.com) and the new domain or will it no longer send the user to the site?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  arsc1810.wordpress.com – remains active – all links to it will still work and you will still work on your blog with the Dashboard of arsc1810.wordpress.com

  When visitors visit your site either as arsc1810.wordpress.com OR arsc1810.com to visit your site they will see arsc1810.com in their browser address – you just get a second address that also works on your blog
