What happens when I add another blog to my account?

I already have one blog site that I have friends and family follow. Now I want to start a new blog that no one I know will follow. Can I do this with the same account? When I start this new blog, will my followers on my first blog ever have any idea that I have another blog too? I’d like to not have to make two accounts.

Yes and maybe.
I’d like to not have to make two accounts.
You can have as many blog s registered under the same username account as you want. However, the only way to make sure the blogs are not associated with each other and this username account is to do just that. Log out, clear your browser cache and cookies. Without logging in again register a new username account using a different email address and register the new blog under it.

Mostly what I need to know is when I start this new site, will followers on the old site receive an email saying I have a new site too? Will there be anything on my first blog website that directs users to the other site?

No and maybe.
if you choose a theme that provides a author byline then you can be tracked back to the first blog. Also the details you provide on your About page or gravatar profile page can be used to find all your blogs registered under the same username account.Logging in and out of two different username accounts is no big deal I do it all the time.
