What happens when you "like" a photo in a gallery?
-
I’ve created a private page with a gallery of portraits taken during a photoshoot. I see that when the family views the photos in the carousel, a “like” option appears. What happens when one (I, or the family) selects this option? Can I see what they “liked”?, or should this link to Facebook? Nothing happens when I like a photo, so I’m unclear how this function works? Suggestions?
Thanks!

When you like or post a comment on an image in the gallery, you don’t like the gallery as a whole. But that particular image only.

Okay but what actually happens when an image is liked? Should that show up on the post/page, or can anyone (me?) see what others liked? At present, liking an image doesn’t seem to make anything happen.
Tnx, M

Hm, haven’t tried it on a private page, but on a public one you will be notified if someone has liked it if you’ve enabled it in your Settings.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-notifications/I’ll experiment with private pages/gallery attachment pages when I have some free time and let you know what I find.
For the future, it would be great if you could give us a link to the WordPress.com blog you have a question about, or even better, link your username to your site. That way we can be sure you are posting in the correct forum. You can do that in your Dashboard’s Personal Settings under Account Details. TIA

@bioblitz-For the record, if your WordPress.com site is set to private and you’ve invited users to view it (the people listed under Privacy Settings>Current Site Members), when a user “Likes” a post or image in a Gallery, their user gravatar will appear under the post, a notification will show up in your Admin Bar and, if you’ve enabled it, you will receive an email as well.
If I’ve misunderstood you and you are referring to a Privately published page or post, http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/ those are only visible to the site Admins and Editors. If this is the case, post back and I will continue experimenting.
