    What has happened to my front page? the entire left-hand section is missing…no links, posts, archives, etc

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

    I’m not exactly sure what’s happening there. Have you recently added more menu items or widgets to your sidebar?

    If you did, can you try undoing your changes? It looks like maybe you have too many menu items or widgets.

    Let me know if that helps! If not, I’ll look into all your settings and customizations.

    Hi Shawna,
    I haven’t changed anything like widgets, or text in the widgets since going to this new WordPress design. If any extra “div tags” are contained within that text widget, they were not placed there by me. Since starting this blog in July 2008, I have repeatedly experienced accessing or reading problems, after posting on certain military issues.

    It looks like this problem is due to some of the code in this post:

    I looked at the Text version of that post and saw this in several of your span tags:

    I’ve removed all instances of that, and it looks like everything is working properly now!

    This type of encoding error can happen when you copy and paste your content from a rich text editor like Microsoft Word. Here’s some information and tips on how to copy content from Word:

    Nothing from that post was taken via “Word.” It is copied and pasted directly into Goog Translate, before I copy exactly the given translation. This is one of many foreign articles found via TOR, which Goog Translate refuses to translate from the link, something about “article taken from unverified source.”

    I don’t see how these tags became inserted into the plain text—

    These characters could have easily been transferred from Google Translate as well. I would suggest using the Paste as Text button as often as possible when you paste text from another source.
