What if my existing domain name is about to expire?

  My existing domain name will expire in 30 days. In order to change the registration to WordPress-do I have to wait until the day it expires and then “repurchase” it using WordPress? Thanks!

  I currently have the other site “mapping” the domain name to my wordpress blog.

  WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers. You must renew you domain name with the registrar you bought it from every year.You must also renew your domain mapping upgrade with WordPress.com annually to continue the mapping to your existing domain.
