Traffic is loosely defined the visitors that come to your blog to read posts. The most valuable of what’s referred to as “traffic” are targeted readers. They are people who have used search engines to locate the specific content in your posts. Here at wordpress.com where we cannot have monetized blogs we are actually aiming to secure more targeted readers.
On other blogging platforms where bloggers have monetized sites their focus is on “ad clickers” and when they say “traffic” what they usually mean is “clickers”. Those who blog for bucks want the highest traffic numbers possible because only a tiny minority of visitors will click ads, and because they usually have PPC (pay per click) blogs.
