What is a 'pingback'?

  Hello,

  I just got two emails asking me to approve a ‘pingback’ comment. I’m not sure what this is, I’ve not seen it before.

  My last two posts are related to each other, so within the text I’ve placed a link in each case to the other post. Would it be to do with that?

  I just thought I’d ask before clicking the ‘approve’ button.
