What is a Portfolio

  Hi! Can someone please explain to me what a Portfolio is? I’ve Googled to find what it actually does but all I can find is details of how to do one….not what the hell it is?! I can’t decide if it’s best for my site if I don’t understand what it is. Please explain Portfolios to me to stop me banging my head on my laptop in frustration. Thanks!

  Thanks but that doesn’t tell me in plain language what a portfolio is actually for. Is it a good way to showcase photo galleries or something? Thanks!
