  Actually, the difference is WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org.

  WordPress.com is a hosted blogging service, and WordPress.org is a self-hosted blogging platform.

  You can read more about the differences at http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  To get a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, you’ll have to install WordPress from http://wordpress.org/ on a hosting provider.

  We have a few recommended hosting providers at http://get.wp.com/hosting/

  To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
