What is a trackback?
-
I saw that I had a spam comment and I went in to delete it. It was listed as a trackback and when i clicked on the link next to the name it took me to another website. The poster is Max and it shows my blog site. So what is that? Is someone trying to pass off my work?

If they are getting it from your RSS feed, and I suspect they are, go to settings > reading, and set your RSS feed, under syndication to show only summaries, and limit it to showing say 1 or 2 posts at most.

thanks! I just went in and deleted the post for the time being. I will fix my rss feed and see what happens in the future.

Ok I went to change it and found ANOTHER trackback link on ANOTHER post. Its going to the same website but a different user name??? Wth?? I kind of understand the trackback bit but I don’t understand how they are using it on this site where it doesn’t appear to be any sort of discussion going on.

Typically what they do is they simply use what you have written (steal it) to get people to visit their site and click on the ads so they can make money. Again, since I can’t see the site, I can’t say for sure.
Are there ads on the site?
-
I didn’t see any on the home page. I had to register with the site in order to see my full post and I didn’t bother going through all that. So I don’t know if the ads were elsewhere.
