Hi,
It is not “better” to switch to WordPress.org as both are different and individuals may prefer different things. You can, however, view the difference here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you wish to move to self-hosted, please follow this guide: https://move.wordpress.com
Let us know if you have any further questions or issues. :)

Hello again @nextstopnature, Although it says this in the support guide that @torres126 linked to, I want to emphasize that to install the WordPress software on 3rd party hosting and configure it takes a lot more technical chops than hosting your site here on WordPress.com where all the back end maintenance is taken care of for you by our developers.
You can move your website any time to a WordPress software install with another web hosting provider, but if you are just starting out, I recommend sticking with WordPressdotcom and getting comfortable with using it first. We have lots of tutorials, both written and video, to help you get started. Here’s a short list:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/start/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/video-tutorials
https://dailypost.wordpress.com/blogging-university/blogging-fundamentals/If you decide to upgrade your WordPressdotcom plan https://wordpress.com/pricing/ you’ll also have access to direct Support via LiveChat and email when you post through the contact form at https://wordpress.com/help/contact rather than posting to the community forums.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
