What is email subscription and how can i remove it?

    Hey guys, help is needed here! Before i begin, i just like to inform y’all that i’m a computer idiot and a newcomer in wordpress, so i’m gonna need a bit of help! Thanks in advance.

    Apparently my friend is an email subscriber of my blog. Here’s how i discovered it:
    Dashboard -> Site Stats -> Totals, Subscriptions & Shares -> Site Subscriptions -> WordPress.com subscribers(0) l Email Subscribers(1) -> my friend’s email address

    May i know what’s the difference between a wordpress.com subscriber and an email subscriber? And do they receive different updates from my blog? And what updates do they receive actually. Will they be notified every time i publish a post?

    I would like to remove this friend from subscription, and after that disable the subscription function if that’s possible. I feel uncomfortable knowing that someone gets updated about my blog, especially when i update a lot and i’m not really that close to the friend so… awkward moment when i found out you know ://

    We cannot remove subscribers. A public blog is just that “public” and anyone can subscribe to it.

    We recently disabled the option to remove a subscriber from your email subscriber list after repeated complaints about the way this option worked.

    As long as your site is publicly available on the web, there is no way to block specific people from seeing it. The “Remove Subscriber” link didn’t ban a user from your site, stopped them from reading it, or even prevented them from subscribing to it again. Note that there is no limit for how many people can subscribe to your site.

    Is there any news on when this might be reversed?

    It’s highly inconvenient as I recently turned my blog on private but I only just realised that the posts I’ve written in private is actually being sent out to email subscribers from before.
