What is fair use of the free blog services?
-
Many businesses are adding blogs to the way they interact with people in the community. I have been asked by my employer to set up a blog for this purpose. It will show photos of new arrivals in the store and discuss what they are, and their history. Prices do not have to be included, but if they were, would that be considered an “ad” that is not allowable unless the account is VIP?

Hi there,
You’re welcome to include pricing information. Just be aware that it’s not really possible to sell items on WordPress.com — shopping cart functionality, for example, isn’t available here.

Thank you for your reply. I would have answered sooner, but missed the email notification.
I did check out the links you suggest, but still was not sure if what I wanted to do was acceptable under the TOS. Thanks again for clearing up that point.

That is kind of riding the line of what’s acceptable.
Often times we say that your blog can’t be a storefront, which is kind of what you’re doing, just without links to actually buy the product.
Can you sort of mix up the content with a few posts not related to the products?

I could include things happening in the town where the store is located, and general history about the different kinds of things on the photos.
Most of the posts will be photos of interesting available items. It is a resale shop. Things are constantly in and out. It is a “find a new home” place for items of sentimental value, and there will be categories.
The front page could be the changing news and events part with links to the photos to the side.
We do not want to be in conflict with the TOS.

That sounds great, and should be perfectly fine around here.
