What is he trying to say in this post?
-
I don’t get what the writer is asking me to do in this post, http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/the-excerpt-function/ I think you need to write your post in the exerpt box of the html editor. However, I just did this, leaving the main post field blank. The post on my blog then came up blank. I added a few random things in the post box, then updated the post, and again, the only thing I saw was the stuff I put in the post box, nothing in the exerpt box was showing. Am I doing something wrong?

If you want clarification from an individual blogger, the best place to get it is on that particular blog.

An excerpt is a way of providing a short summery of your Post,

You should write your post as usual, in the post box you usually use. I believe you are using the twenty ten theme, so your posts will appear as they usually would: exactly what you write in the post editor.
The excerpts, which work in your theme only in the category and archive pages, are meant to be a way for you to make a custom summary of your posts: maybe something to catch a reader’s interest, or an outline of what your post is about.
Excerpts must be pasted into the excerpt box in the HTML mode.
You can write your custom paragraph in your visual post editor. Then switch to HTML editor and cut (copy) your custom summary out of your post. Paste that into the excerpt box.
Again, in your theme, it will only appear in category or archive pages.

If you want shortened posts on your main blog page, use the more tag.

Thanks all! I think I’ve got it figured out, and I’d probably be even more disappointed if I put lots of videos on my posts, but since I do not do that, then I think I’ll just stick with this theme and coppy all my posts to the excerpt box and publish that so it displays how I want it to.
