What is http error?
-
Today when I was uploading an image (of about 1.0 MB) using flash uploader I got an HTTP ERROR. Since the image was completely uploaded but the error showed when it was crunching. And the uploading stopped. Here is the screenshot: http://wpgaurav.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/httperror.png
I understood that there was a problem in flash uploader. And I used browser uploader instead of flash. It was successful. But I still want to know what is this “HTTP ERROR”? I’ve listened about many errors like 404, 500 etc. But not this one!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I am having the same problem uploading audio files. It’s something to do with file size. Very small soundbites load fine (~100kB). Anything approaching the size of a full length song gives an http error (>1 MB).
There are several suggestions out there to modify .htaccess. I tried them all to no avail. They seem to be aimed at a problem that arose in version 2.5.

If you are messing with .htaccess and such, sorry, you need to head over to the WordPress.org forums as that is where self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG are supported.
These forums are for those hosted here on the wordpress.COM free hosting service and things here work differently.
If you are not familiar with the differences, see this support document.

Oops. Sorry about that. The problem wpgaurav is describing is identical to mine. If someone can help him, they can probably help me too.

The problem is withe the file extension on the server. If you are running php 5. You will need access to the file extensions on your host, This is saying if you have hosting plan more than likely you do. log in to your hosting site via webbased http, and go to your account settings. Look for a file extension manger. Problem is the “FASTCgi”.
In your manager change the php5 from “PHP5.2.x + FASTCgi” to just run as “PHP5.2.x”
Now go check your uploads again. Dont have access, well the sorry, contact your host and get them to do it :) -
@jarock007 – your answer has no relevance to a WordPress.COM blog since WordPress.COM does not allow access to any program or server files or configuration of them. You answer only confuses those that have sites hosted here at WordPress.COM.
