  • You’ll need to contact GoDaddy for your FTP information.

I contacted GoDaddy and they told me to contact WordPress.

They also told my that I need my IP address from WordPress. I searched everywhere and could not find it.

Once again, I contacted GoDaddy and after some extensive effort we could not locate my IP address or my FTP information.

They insist that WordPress has it all.

  • If you want your website to be hosted on GoDaddy’s servers, they need to give you access to that, so they are the ones who have to give you the “keys”. WordPress (or anyone else) can not help you with that.

It’s like if you would move from one house to another; you can leave the old house (WordPress) but in order to get into the new house (GoDaddy), the owner of that one will have to give you the keys.

It’s possible that GoDaddy is referring to the FTP information for your current site, but that’s not how WordPress.com works; you should export the content of your current WordPress.com site using the WP admin export tool: https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-to-a-self-hosted-wordpress-site/4/

Then once you have set up your new WordPress site on GoDaddy (which you can’t do without GoDaddy’s FTP info for your account over there), you can import that content again.

If this all too complex or you need help, you may want to consider purchasing a Guided Transfer: https://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/

There is no FTP access to WordPress.COM blogs – it is a security and reliability issue. Godaddy should be well aware of that, but they don’t seem to learn for some reason
