What is my "Username, Password and Host" for my domain purchased through WP?

    I’m trying to use FileZilla to upload WordPress to a website domain which I bought through WP (To be able to use plugins.) However, how do I find the username, password and host which are required in FileZilla to upload WP? When I bought the domain from WP no information on this whatsoever was provided? Please help!

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Howdy!

    It is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. If you are wondering how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org, this support article explains the distinction:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    Since you’d like to install plug-ins, it sounds like you’d prefer a WordPress.org site. If that’s the case, please let me know, as you can still use the domain you purchased through WordPress.com.

    You will need to obtain hosting for your .org site, and that’s where you’ll point FileZilla to upload files. I can then help you map your domain to the hosting provider instead of WordPress.com.

    Dear Alex,

    Thanks for the response, I would like to use wordpress org, with the plugins. I’m however unsure how to start/what to do could you please help? Also, how do I get a host? Can you please explain how I go about doing that?

    Hi Mark,

    Here’s some links to get you setup self-hosted with WordPress.org:

    Depending on what hosting service you choose, some of them offer a quick, automatic installation of the latest WordPress release, so you might be able to skip that last part.

    Once you’ve got WordPress installed on a hosting service, let me know who you’re hosting with and I’ll help you get that domain mapped. :)
