What is Pending Review in post status?

  I’ve been reading the Codex to try and find out what Pending Review is, and how it works. It is mentioned, but not elaborated on, within the Writing Posts part of the Codex, but can’t find anything further (my eyes are almost out of their sockets with reading….).

  It’s new actually. I believe those posts are the ones written by Contributors and are awaiting approval by a blog’s administrator or editor.
