What is phpMyAdmin and how do I use it?
-
I have hosting at Go Daddy which I need to keep because of an online application form and related documents. I’d like up upload my WordPress.com site to replace our existing website without losing the application form. The document Go Daddy sent (http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/6117/moving-your-wordpress-site-to-us-from-another-host?locale=en&ci=46061) with instructions says I need access to my existing phpMyAdmin and I need to be able to ftp my WordPress site. I’m stuck and I haven’t even gotten started. How do I get to phpMyAdmin in WordPress?

FYI in case it’s helpful, our current website (with link to online app) is http://protegerescue.org.

Hi there,
The issue you’re running in to is that there is a difference between WordPress.com (which we are) and WordPress.org (which GoDaddy is referring to).
We’ve got a help article which breaks down the differences right here:
So if you are looking to be able to log in to your phpMyAdmin, then you will need to log in to your GoDaddy.com account, log in to your WebHosting control panel, and make sure that WordPress is installed there and you can then log in your phpMyAdmin there.
If you decide that you would like to use WordPress at GoDaddy only and not at WordPress.com, let us know! We can make sure that we cancel and refund your Custom Design that you purchased as long as we do so within 30 days from the purchase date! :)

Aww. Thanks for checking and for your helpful response, though it wasn’t what I was hoping to hear. I am pretty happy with the WordPress.com site I’ve created, but I should have done my homework. I don’t think this is going to work for us. I’ll keep it until I figure out the best solution, but I probably do need to get a refund for the custom design. Would you be so kind as to tell me the best way to accomplish this? I really appreciate the details you provided.

Heya!
You can cancel your Custom Design upgrade and get a full refund within 30 days of purchase.
To do so, all you have to do is go to the Store -> My Upgrades section of your dashboard, where you’ll find Custom Design included in the list of any upgrades which you might have (though I think that’s all you’ve got?), along with a “Cancel” button.
Hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any more questions!
