What is the advantage to using WordPress?

I would like some experienced WordPress users to plesae tell me what the advantage to using
Wordpress is over Blogger. WordPress seems very limited inits functionality.Thanks,

For me the biggest advantage is the community. WP has a great community of bloggers and because the tag pages list new posts from all over WordPress, it’s easy to find people with similar interests. Often you’ll find discussions carrying over in the comments between different blogs. WP blogs have good ranking on Google and integrate well with services like Technorati. Also WP is very secure, you don’t have to back up your blog (unless you want to) and you can choose between several privacy options.
There are downsides. WordPress doesn’t allow you to use Javascript or Flash for security reasons and WordPress blogs are noncommercial, so you can’t use ads or anything like that. Also sometimes we have problems with our spam system mistaking comments for spam, although usually despamming works. And if you live in certain parts of the world contacting staff can be inconvenient, but there’s the forums for help as well.
Blogger does give you more freedom but likewise its splogs have damaged its reputation. So really it depends on what you want to do with your blog. If content and having a conversation is important to you, a host like WP is a good choice because of the community; if you want to be able to market your blog then you should look elsewhere.

zingari, just one thing: wordpress.com is not “wordpress”. cjwriter well describes the situation on wordpress.com, but you can also install wordpress as a blogging software, install it on your own server space and you don’t have any restriction and a rather powerful software. At the top of this forum you’ll find a sticky post with a list of differences.

i think wordpress is better because it is a lot more organized then other places, like piczo or wetpaint. wordpress is simple, organized, and easy to use.

I recently switched from Blogger because I hated the themes on Blogger (my blog looked like everyone else’s) and found one here I like. Plus I heard there is a company that will print your blog into book form and they don’t work w/ Blogger. I haven’t researched that thoroughly though.

At first I tried blogger, I couldn’t get the hang of it. Then I switched to WordPress.com. I acctually understood it, so I stayed here. Basicly I’m saying it’s easier to navigate.

I like it because, I dono, the blogger themes are lame, and the comments are weird and small.
