What is the "Blog follow email text" and is it personalized to my blog?

    Sorry I’m new to WordPress. Under “Reading Settings” >”Follower Settings” I found something called “Blog follow email text”. First is this what people will receive in their email when following me, and secondly can I personalize the message or is it already personalized? There is a box that says,

    “Howdy.

    You recently signed up to follow this blog’s posts. This means once you confirm below, you will receive each new post by email.

    To activate, click Confirm Follow. If you believe this is an error, ignore this message and nothing more will happen.”

    Underneath the box it says, “Introduction text sent when someone follows a post on your blog. (Site and confirmation details will be automatically added for you.)” Does this mean that it automatically says that it’s from my blog “Gems of Genres” because it looks like I can edit the words. Finally is it a good idea to edit and use my blog title?

    I’d love some input.

    That’s the boilerplate text which you can obviously edit.

    WordPress.com will include your blog name (Gems of Genres) in the email. You can of course change it to whatever you feel is appropriate to your blog’s content.

    Hi there. Yes, those messages are what appears in the confirmation emails when people sign up to follow your blog via email. What you currently see is the default message that appears for all blogs, but you can replace it with your own message if you want to.

    Does this mean that it automatically says that it’s from my blog “Gems of Genres”

    Yes, your blog title and a link to your blog are included in the message by default.

    Finally is it a good idea to edit and use my blog title?

    Do you mean include your blog title in the message, e.g. in the place of “this blog”? It’s completely up to you, really. My blog title is included in my follow message, but it’s simply because that’s how I like it, not because it’s better to do it that way.
