What is the correct format for entering CNAME records?
-
I have clicked the ‘edit DNS’ link next to my primary domain and tried to enter 1 MX and 2 CNAME records. I have verified with NetworkSolutions (my website host) that the information I am trying to enter (below) is valid.
MX 10 INBOUND.CLAIREDIAMOND.COM.NETSOLMAIL.NET.
CNAME MAIL.CLAIREDIAMOND.COM. MAIL.CLAIREDIAMOND.COM.NETSOLMAIL.NET.
CNAME SMTP.CLAIREDIAMOND.COM. SMTP.CLAIREDIAMOND.COM.NETSOLMAIL.NET.However, I continue to get the following error message when I click the validate button:
1. CNAME records should be “CNAME <subdomain> <domain>”. No wildcards (*).
2. CNAME records should be “CNAME <subdomain> <domain>”. No wildcards (*).

The CNAME record should follow the following format:
CNAME mail netsolmail.net
where “mail” is the subdomain and “netsolmail.net” is the host/domain name.
If you’re trying to update your MX records, can you try the following?
1. Go to Store > Domains in your Dashboard.
2. Click “Edit DNS” button on the right of your domain name.
3. In the text box, paste the code below:
(just XXXXXXX lines between dashes, don’t forget the periods at the end of each line):——————————
MX 0 smtp.secureserver.net.
MX 10 mailstore1.secureserver.net.
******** MAKE SURE TO UPDATE THESE LINES ********
——————————4. Hit the save button.
Please allow 4-8 hours for .COM and .NET domains and about 24-48 hours for all other domain extensions for these changes to complete.
