What is the correct subdomain value when I'm editing custom DNS?

In my GoDaddy DNS, it seems to use “@”. However @ isn’t validated by WordPress.

Looks like your domain is not pointing to WordPress.com name servers yet.
Please go to your domain registrar’s site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMPlease review this guide for more information about domain mapping.

@kardotim … actually I did have the nameservers pointing to WordPress.com at the time I posted the question, but, before you replied I undid that change.
The nameserver pointing was not an issue; the fact that my webmail ceased to work was the issue. So, following the WordPress help articles, I tried to edit the DNS in WordPress to match that of GoDaddy’s.
Unforunately in GoDaddy when I view my A, MX, CNAME, and other zone files some of them contain the character “@”. Which WordPress does not recognize. So, any further advice you can provide would be appreciated, because as of now, I am unable to map my domain & have working webmail while it’s pointed to WordPress.
Thank you very much!

Unfortunately, we can’t support all webmail configurations, and this appears to be one of those cases.
In this case, you can still setup your own email and webmail through Google Apps for Domains: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/google-apps-email/

Thank you macmanx. That article is very helpful & hopefully will give me an option to run both webmail & hosting here on WordPress.
