what is the difference

    Ok..so I found a wordpress.com and a wordpress.org.

Can someone please tell me the difference?

    Thank you

  • WordPress.com is where you are now. You get free hosting for your blog with a wide selection of free themes and free technical support. You don’t have to worry about the code keeping your site running, you can just jump in and start blogging. There are paid upgrades available, but you can get by quite fine without them.

WordPress.org is a open-source software package. You can download it to create your own website, but you have to do everything to make it work, including registering a domain, paying for bandwidth, making backups of your site data, etc. It is not free as at the very least you’ll have to pay for hosting, but is more flexible if you, for example, want to create a business website with e-commerce functionality.
