What is the Optional Excerpts area?
-
When you write a post for your blog. You have where you can type the main part of your post. Under that you have where you uploads pictures and videos. Under that there is a spot for a Optional Excerpt. What exactly is that for? I typed a sentence in just to see if it shows up in my post. It doesn’t.

OK… gotta admit I’m curious as to what that does as well.
And I know I’m sleep deprived, but that link just goes back to this thread. Am I *really* missing something sulz?

the automatically generated excerpts are stripped of any html. so if you want an image or a link to show up when someone’s browsing your archives (if your theme shows excerpts on archive/search pages), you can put the image in the excerpt. also, if you’re using hemingway, what you put in the excerpt shows up on the front page.

Sorry to dig up an old topic, but why are automatically generated excerpts stripped of HTML? Some people do browse using categories (it makes sense!) and stripping the formatting is just confusing!
