What is the problem with formatting?
-
I’d like to know what the problem is with WordPress’s ability to retain formatting. I’ve used the approved html in the “Code” and the minute I “save and continue editing” or “publish” the formatting is striped out.
It doesn’t matter whether I write fresh copy or copy and paste copy in from other programs, the formatting gets screwed up. It is extremely frustrating to spend an hour formatting a post over and over and over again. This happens everytime I post. I’m beginning to think that there’s got to be a better place to blog.

What formatting specifically are you using? Paste the code here between backticks so we can look at it. Some tags won’t work here at all.
Our templates have the formatting coded in, and if you don’t like what yours is doing you have the option to code it by hand in the CODE editor, buy the CSS upgrade and change the CSS, or change the template to something that works better for you.
If formatting control is critical to you, your best bet is to buy the CSS upgrade, provided you know how to use CSS. Coding by hand is the second-best alternative. If neither of these appeal, then there are other blogging options including using software from WordPress.org and hosting it yourself.
Also, please don’t post the same issue in a number of threads. It just creates more work for the volunteers in the forum.
