What is the purpose of a tag cloud?

  Why should I have a tag cloud on the sidebar of my blog? Does it serve and purpose as far as search engines are concerned?

  The tag cloud provides links to Tag Archive pages for your blog. If a user clicks on “Sports” in a tag cloud, they can view all posts tagged with that particular category.

  SEO? Not really, although the extra links to the archive pages may help in the grand scheme of things.
