What is the purpose of URL landing page vs Home

What is the difference between the URL landing page (ofbooksandkayaks.wordpress.com) and ‘Home’ (https://ofbooksandkayaks.wordpress.com/home/)? This seems redundant.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

The page displayed at the site URL is normally considered the front page or the homepage. So the front page/homepage of https://ofbooksandkayaks.wordpress.com/ is the blog page, which displays the latest posts. However, in this case a different page has been given the title “Home.”

The page titled “Home” on the site is a static page. It’s unrelated to the front page, though there is a link to the “Home” page in the header navigation menu. However the page titled “Home” could be made the front page, as described in the Set a Static “Home” Page (Front Page) support page, which would eliminate the redundancy that you refer to.

By the way, the page titled “Blog” is also a static page. You could assign that as your Blog page, which would result in the latest posts displaying there instead of on the front page. Again see the Set a Static “Home” Page (Front Page) support page for relevant instructions. If you set the “Home” page as the front page, you may at the same time set the page titled “Blog” as the blog page.

If you want to keep the blog on the front page, and not use a static front page, then you may leave your front page setting as it is, and simply edit the “Home” item in your custom menu so that it links to the site URL rather than the static page “Home.” In that case neither the page titled “Home” nor the page titled “Blog” would be necessary, and either or both of them could be set to draft status or deleted. The “Blog” menu could be deleted as well.

Correction: “The “Blog” menu item could be deleted as well.”
