What is the time zone of wordpress?
-
Hi, my blog launches tomorrow, August 1st. While working on my first post (auto scheduled for 0500 on Aug 1) today, around 1-2pm July 31, I noticed at the bottom of the text box where i was editing that it said draft updated at 1:13 am on Aug 1.WHich obviously hasn’t happened, at least in my time zone in AZ, USA. I am worried my first post will auto post about seven hours too early in my area, as that is the time discrepancy between when i was editing the draft and the time it said i had edited it. I would appreciate the help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You can set your own timezone so that all of your post times will be correct for your timezone. You can set it by logging in to your Dashboard and going to Settings >> General and setting it there.
You should note something from our Schedule a Post page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/schedule-a-post/
Scheduled posts will be triggered by the first visit to your blog on or after the exact date/time you set.
Keep this in mind when you are planning your posts!

I just want to clarify that every single time I want my post to publish, even when it has been auto scheduled for a future date and time, it will not post until someone checks my page? I am really not understanding the logic behind that, especially when I am using the auto post. So every time I want my post to publish I need to completely log out of my wordpress account and visit my own site to have my post show up?
However, this morning I checked my site on my phone on my way to work and it was not published. I had to manually publish it even though it was scheduled.
Thanks for the help

You are correct, you have to (or someone else has to) visit your site in order for it to get published. It’s something that a lot of people miss about the scheduled post feature and so I wanted to make sure you saw that.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience.
